New Bush Food Earring Designs

I’m excited to introduce my new earring collection, inspired by the incredible Australian bush food plants that have thrived for thousands of years through First Nations Peoples’ deep connection to and respect for Country.

Years ago, I met a talented and positive human, Adam Byrne. We sang music together, painted murals, and his experience as a graphic designer helped shape my own freelance career. Adam (Garigal/Gadigal) has since moved from the design world to co-found Bush to Bowl, an Indigenous-owned and run native plant nursery. Alongside Clarence (Yaegl), they grow and celebrate beautiful Australian native plants while creating opportunities for the community to learn more about Country and connect with the earth.

When my partner and I started our own garden, we stocked up on tube stock from Bush to Bowl, and now our native bush food garden is thriving! My favorites are the river mint and round leaf mint, which are flourishing and bring me so much joy. Through Bush to Bowl’s generosity in sharing knowledge about bush foods, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of these incredible plants. This inspiration led me to design a new range of earrings that celebrates the native plants we are so lucky to have here in Australia.

PROCESS

I love the creative process of designing and carving each piece by hand. The act of carving allows me to connect deeply with the subject—it’s intentional, meditative, and something I enjoy immensely. Once the designs are carved, I digitise them to be printed and made into earrings. It’s always a treat to bring the original stamps to markets and share the process with the wonderful people who stop by.

Sustainability

With a focus on nature, sustainability is at the core of my work. Every product I create is as environmentally friendly as possible, from start to finish. Each pair of earrings is made in Australia, UV printed on Australian-grown FSC-certified hoop pine, and paired with beautiful handmade sterling silver earring hooks.
